Ruth Bauer Neustadter

Prison bars, chains, locks, bones, rusty nails, a broken heart, fear, anxiety, twistedness and weightlessness are all part of this woman's reality or imagination. Both are terrible. Either she is literally behind bars for not shutting up or not speaking up, because she fears what could happen to her if she opens her mouth and tells the world what is being done to her. Secrets abound. . . . but she still wants the world to know. Her entire life, shutting up has been her path. Enough. . . . Remove the chains, the lock. Let me begin to heal my heart. Hear me. I speak.
